The Scott County Arts Consortium Mission "to enrich the community by providing a home for the arts through partnerships, programming, service, education and historic and cultural preservation"
In setting as our mission: "to provide a home for the arts" the SCAC interprets home both literally and figuratively. The role of an arts center is to serve as more than just a physical space for activities. The arts and creative expression are a source of emotional sustenance, intellectual development, social and cultural identity and human joy.
In creating a home for the arts in an architecturally and historically significant building, the old Scott County Jail, the SCAC accomplishes a part of its mission, that of historic preservation. The mission to educate is fulfilled in a variety of arts and cultural classes currently being held at Cardome in building #3 as well as other community events and activities.
The affiliation with ArtWorks partners further fulfills the SCAC mission. We believe that partnering contributes to a vibrant cultural atmosphere in the community, allows for more cooperation, more options for participation, increased opportunities for learning, and brings joy to the people of Georgetown and Scott County.
