About the Scott County Arts Consortium, Inc.

Our Mission

to enrich the community by providing a home for the arts through partnerships, programming, service, education and historic and cultural preservation

In setting our mission: “to provide a home for the arts” the Scott County Arts Consortium, Inc.  interprets “home” both literally and figuratively.  The role of an arts and cultural center is to serve as more than just a physical space for activities.  The arts and creative expression are a source of emotional sustenance, intellectual development, social and cultural identity and human joy.

In creating a home for the arts in an architecturally and historically significant building, the old Scott County Jail, the SCAC accomplishes a part of its mission, that of historic preservation. The mission to educate is fulfilled in a variety of arts and cultural classes in the Arts & Cultural Center ArtZone Studios, as well as through community outreach events and activity partnerships.

Join in shaping our community’s cultural heritage. Phase 1: historical preservation, restoration, and renovation has been completed by transforming the ca. 1870’s Jailer’s House into space for the Arts & Cultural Center’s gallery, SCAC office, and classrooms. Phase 2, creating space for arts programming in the historic 1892 Scott County Jail Complex, is the SCAC’s next challenge.

Please support Scott County’s Arts & Cultural Center by enjoying exhibits, taking classes, becoming a member, or sponsoring events.
